Patient question
When seeing a doctor for coronary heart disease, if I'm scheduled for tests I recently had, how do I ask whether repeat testing is really necessary?

Professional answer
Show the dates, reports, and any original materials from the previous tests. Ask what question this test needs to answer and whether the old data is sufficient. You can also ask the doctor to explain the reason for repeating the test and any time requirements. Do not cancel a test just because the name is the same; first have the care team review the information.
