Check that the measurement device and procedure are correct, then follow the device instructions to recheck and record the results along with any accompanying symptoms. If the difference persists, contact a healthcare provider as soon as possible. If severe symptoms such as significant chest pain, difficulty breathing, altered consciousness, fainting, or sudden weakness in a limb occur at the same time, call emergency services immediately.
