Ask the medical team to explain in plain language the purpose of the procedure, expected information or effects, major risks, alternative options, whether hospitalization is needed, and postoperative arrangements. Also proactively inform them of any history of allergies, previous bleeding issues, other medical conditions, and all medications. Ask questions on the spot about anything you do not understand, and do not stop taking medications on your own.
