Patient question
A coronary heart disease test requires fasting, but I already ate today. What should I do?

Professional answer
Before the test starts, contact the testing department and tell them what and how much you ate or drank and exactly when, and whether you have taken any medication. The staff will determine based on the specific test whether you can proceed or need to reschedule. Do not hide that you ate, and do not try to fix it by extending fasting, inducing vomiting, or adjusting medications on your own.
